Sympathy:

To Olive Flynn and Iris Conway and their families on the death of their mother Alice Mason(nee Fitzgerald).

Alice died on the 16th March; two days short of her 100th birthday. Alice was in good health up until a week before she died. She enjoyed a long and generous life, herself and Billy were a lovely couple to visit. Her funeral service took place on the day of her 100th Birthday in St John's church in Ashe Street. It was a celebration of thanksgiving for a long life and happy life that was well lived.

She was buried in Ballyseedy beside her beloved husband Billy, who died just two months ago.

To Heide, Daniel, Rosy, Billy and Evie Giles on the death of Heidi’s father George Ferguson. George would be well known to parishioners in Tralee and I remember meeting him at Billy’s confirmation in October.

George, Karen and their family spent some time in Kenya with CMS where he managed a tea and coffee plantation when their family were young. George’s funeral took place on the 16th March in Brinny Church.

The Messiah in St Johns  Aidan O’ Carroll and the Kerry Chamber Choir will put on a production of the Messiah in St Johns Ashe Street on Monday 18th April at 7pm.

Remembering Richard Southwell,

Richard will be remembered at the morning service in Kilgobbin on the 10th April, Belinda will be in the Old Rectory at that time and it will allow the people of Kilgobbin to show their sympathy to Belinda and their appreciation for the long and generous life of Richard who was such a good friend to Kilgobbin.

Mothering Sunday was observed in the various churches, In Tralee, Daffodils were given to all in recognition of their mothering qualities. The daffodils were sourced in Killarney and the proceeds go to Daffodil day.

Bishops Appeal Collection for Ukraine.

Many thanks to all who so generously supported the recent Bishops Appeal Collection for Ukraine. €1786 was collected in the parish.

Easter is coming with its message of  hope. We have our moments, we receive difficult news and we carry burdens, hurts and disappointments. But the Easter message reminds us, that right in the middle of them, there is a promise of new life, new beginnings and a sense of hope and promise.

I find the darkness of the situation in Ukraine almost over whelming, the damage to infrastructure the loss of life and the destruction of the future, but in the middle of all this we know that peace will come that Ukraine will rise from the ashes and that there will be a future to which people will return.

At the moment we are witnessing a monumental effort as we watch those who are trying their best to bring good where there is evil, to bring hope where there is despair, light where there us darkness. That is the Easter message working through the lives of so many people today.

Easter reminds us that :

Goodness is stronger than Evil,

Love is stronger than hate;

Light is stronger than darkness;

Life is stronger than death;

Victory is ours through Him who loves us.
