Many thanks to all who contributed to the family service last Sunday  in Tralee and to the potluck event afterwards in Teach an tSolais.

Changes to the service rota, August only.

There will be a service in Dingle on the 4th August.

There won’t be services in Ballyseedy or Ballymacelligott on the 18th August.

Bishop Michael visited the Churches at Camp and Dingle on the 21st July and he commissioned Helen Keefe as a Reader. We wish her well in her ministry.

Roses in St Johns

There will be a united service in St Johns on the 18th August.

For many years some of the Roses, their families and entourage attend our Church for the Sunday Morning Service.

This is also a window into our parish for the visitors who come amongst us so

I would  encourage parishioners and friends to support the parish on that Sunday morning.

The Kerry Chamber Choir will also share in the worship. It’s also an opportunity  to celebrate the roses and all that the festival means to Tralee, To Kerry and to our Diaspora.

Sympathy

To Lettie Young on the sudden death of her much-loved granddaughter Molly Young.

Molly is the only daughter of Wayne and Carmel and she passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Friday the 5th July.

Her funeral was celebrated in St Marys Cathedral in Killarney and she was buried in Killarney New Cemetery.

On a personal level I knew Molly since her primary school days as she was my daughter Ava’s closest friend. They shared so many formative experiences together, they had many a night out, travelled to concerts, events and on weekend away, including trips to West Cork and further afield with Wayne and Carmel.

Ava was really blessed to have a friend like Molly and to know her parents Wayne and Carmel.

Molly was artistic , creative , with a lovely singing voice but above all she was a kind, generous and thoughtful friend. She will never be forgotten and she will always have a place in our hearts.

To Peter and Ellie Roberts on the death of  Kathy Roberts on the 13th July in UHK, her funeral service was held in St James Church Dingle on the 17th followed by burial in Dingle.

Peter and Kathy were originally from Lincoln in England. They travelled a lot because of Peters work as an engineer. They spent time in Saudi Arabia, finally settling in their holiday home in Ventry. Some years ago, they were joined by their daughter Ellie who is the Peoples Church warden in Dingle. They were very active in St James Church.

To Linda Woods and her family on the death of her aunt Judy Goodhand in June,

Her funeral will take place in Camberley in SW London .

Congratulations To John Kelliher and Katie Daly on the occasion of their marriage in Carragheen Church. The service was conducted by Fr Mark Moriarty assisted by Bishop Emeritus of Kerry, The Most Rev Bill Murphy and the Rector.

John is the son of Margaret and Edward Kelliher , Oakpark Tralee.

To  Vivienne Sugrue nee Blennerhassett who will celebrate her 100th Birthday this weekend in her own home with her family and friends. Vivenne lives with her son George and his wife Mary.

It’s a wonderful milestone to reach and to celebrate and it’s a privilege to visit her on my Communion rounds. We wish her continued good health and happiness.

Concerts in St James Dingle: with Eoin Duignan are continuing on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays of each week.

History and Tourism Project in St Johns.

St Johns continues to be opened to visitors on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 12 to 3pm.

The final piece of the project is now in place with the Audio-Visual presentation in the vestibule.

Many thanks to those who so generously have given their time to volunteer as guides.

This project would not have been possible without financial support from the leader program and the Church of Ireland Priorities fund. We are also most grateful to John Griffin for his support , guidance and input, Without John  it simply would not be in place.

I would urge any parishioner who has not seen it to come and enjoy the history of this holy place.

Parishioners in Hospital

If you or someone known to you is in any of the hospitals in Tralee, please let me know.

At present and because of GDPR the hospitals are not allowed to give patients names.

I will only be too happy to visit, as part of my job is to provide pastoral care to Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals. UHK and the BONS.

Newsletters

It has come to my attention that on occasions the newsletter does not get to everyone on the email list for some reason beyond my technical competence.

So, if on any occasion in the future you or someone known to you does not receive an email copy of the newsletter on the first week of the month, please let me know so that I can check the email list and resend the newsletter.

An ecumenical service was held in St James Dingle on the feast of St James to remember and honour all those buried in the grounds there. The service was followed by a very interesting talk on the history of the Church and site.
