Wednesday Holy Communion
The Holy Communion is celebrated every Wednesday at 11am in St Johns Ashe Street. This is followed by Coffee and fellowship in the Ashe. All are welcome.
Changes to the service rota, August only.
We won’t have services in Ballyseedy or Ballymacelligott on the 17th August to allow parishioners to attend Tralee that morning.
The Service on the second weekend in Ballyseedy will be held at 7.30pm on the Saturday evening the 9th rather than on the Sunday morning.
The Service in Tralee on the 24th of August will be at 10.15 am to facilitate our visitors from Sligo who wish to make an early start for home.
St James Dingle Visitor sign.
As was mentioned in a previous newsletter a lot of work has gone into preparing a new visitor sign for St James Dingle. It will be put in place shortly at the entrance to the church. It will display the history of the sight going back to medieval times.
The sign was made possible because of a generous grant from Kerry County Council. The research was done by Tom Dillon and it was put together by John Griffin, Rev Jim Stephens and coordinated by Cecil Hoffman.
The sign was designed by Tessa Dennison and built by Signatec.
The extension including WC and Kitchen is built and almost completed.
The entrance area to the church will be resurfaced in the coming days.
If in Dingle later in the month, do drop in and see the grounds and the new visitor sign.
Our final Graveyard services of the summer will be held Ballyseedy Church on Saturday the 9th August at 7.30pm.
There will be a service also in St James which we will announced once the work is done on the grounds and the sign is in place.
During these services we remember those who are buried in the grounds and those who grieve for them.
Sympathy
To Audrey, Ian and Susanne Humphrey on the death of Mike Humphrey who died recently. Mike’s funeral service was held in St Johns and was followed by cremation in Cork.
Mike and Audrey lived in Ballinorig for the last ten years having relocated to Ireland from the UK to be near their son Ian his wife Ethna.
Roses in St Johns
There will be a united service in St Johns on the 17th August.
For many years some of the Roses, their families and entourage attend our Church for the Sunday Morning Service.
This is also a window into our parish for the visitors who come amongst us so that weekend.
I would encourage parishioners and friends to support the parish on that Sunday morning. Bring a friend, Tell a neighbour.
It is an opportunity for the parish to link with the wider community as we celebrate the roses and all that the festival means to Tralee, To Kerry and to our Diaspora.
The Kerry Chamber Choir will also participate in the worship.
Sligo Visitors.
We look forward to welcoming a group of 26 parishioners and their rector, Revd. Andrew Pierce, from Achonry and Skreen group of parishes when they visit Tralee and Dingle on the weekend 22nd to 24th August. The group will travel by bus, arriving Friday evening. They plan to visit the Dingle area on Saturday. We have invited them to join us in St John's at approx. 5.30pm Saturday evening. The plan is to begin the evening with a guided tour of the church. This will be followed by a meal in Teach an tSolais which will provide an opportunity for us all to meet and spend time with our guests. Everyone is welcome on the Saturday evening and it is hoped that many people from our parish will come along. If you wish to attend the meal, it is important to let Olive know (086 3102577) so that we know how many to cater for.
Also, there are some spaces available on the bus (approx. 11) going to Dingle that morning and Revd. Pierce has very kindly invited parishioners from here to join them on the trip. Again, please let Olive know if you wish to be included. The visit will conclude on Sunday morning 24th with a 10.15am service followed by refreshments before our guests depart for their lengthy return journey to what is one of, if not the, most northerly parishes in our diocese
Concerts in St James Dingle: with Eoin Duignan are continuing on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays of each week.
Parishioners in Hospital
If you or someone known to you is in any of the hospitals in Tralee, please let me know.
At present and because of GDPR the hospitals are not allowed to give patients names.
I will only be too happy to visit, as part of my job is to provide pastoral care to Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals. UHK and the BONS.
Newsletters
It has come to my attention that on occasions the newsletter does not get to everyone on the email list for some reason beyond my technical competence.
So, if on any occasion in the future you or someone known to you does not receive an email copy of the newsletter on the first week of the month, please let me know so that I can check the email list and resend the newsletter.
