Christmas fair
The Christmas promises to be another wonderful parish fundraising and community building event. We will have all the usual fare, fresh baking, Jams and Preserves, Christmas crafts and decorations, flower arrangements and the ever-popular Silent Auction, raffles, Guess the weight of the cake, festive games and many other delights.
Burgers and sausages, teas and coffee and apple pie will also be on offer.
As Rector I am very proud of the parishioners who put so much effort into making it the success that it always is.
It is also one of the ways in which we reach out and connect with the communities in our area. The Christmas fair is made possible by the creativity and generosity of our parishioners, neighbors’ friends, supporters and patrons and those who so kindly donate gifts and vouchers, and for these we are most thankful and appreciative.
Mission Sunday project (Bishops Peregrinations)
The bishop has visited our churches and we sang the hymn and raised some funds for Bishop’s appeal. Thank you to all who took the time to be present and to the school in Tralee who also participated.
Thanks, and Praise. This Hymn book was produced some years ago and is meant to complement the Church Hymnal. It has lots of new material. It was decided at a recent Select Vestry Meeting to purchase the Hymn books and the CDs for our parish. It was also suggested that anyone who wished to buy one for themselves or present them in memory of a loved one would be more than welcome to do so. Please contact The Rector if you are interested.
Other Voices
The Other Voices concert takes place in St James church Dingle from the 31st November to the 4th December. This has been a wonderful experience for the parish as it brings lots of people to the town on that weekend and is a great boost to the local economy in so many ways. The parish is proud and delighted to be a part of this experience.
Circus Festival Performance,
Performances took place in St Johns during the circus festival weekend in Tralee.
St Johns is a beautiful church with plenty of space and it’s lovely to see it used in ways that are tasteful and affirm the creativity of the human mind.
These events provide access to those who may never in other circumstances see the Church.
Concert in St Johns
Following on from the very successful Chopin by Candlelight in St Johns in November, frank McNamara plans to return for his celebrate Christmas series of concerts.
It will be held in St Johns on the 10th December @ 9pm and tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
Hospital Visiting
As Rector I serve as the Church of Ireland chaplain to the Tralee Hospitals and I am happy to call to any parishioners from my own parish and any other parish who may be in one of the Tralee hospitals or in one of the many nursing homes in the area. Because of GDPR we are unable to access the names of parishioners who may be in hospital. Please let me know if you would like a friend or loved one visited.
Christmas Communions. I visit a number of homes on a regular basis to share Holy Communion with those who are unable to attend church. If you know of anyone who is not in a position to attend church and would like Christmas Communion, please let me Know
The Holy Strollers met on November 18th when they enjoyed a walk along the beach and surrounding area adjacent to Kilgobbin Church, finishing off with refreshments in Ashe's Coffee Shop. As well as enjoying the fresh air and exercise in our beautiful countryside, these walks are also a welcome opportunity for people to meet and chat along the way. We are very grateful to the parishioners in the Camp side of the parish who helped with the planning and coordinating this time around and we look forward to getting out and about again very soon.Thank you to Linda and Olive who led the walk.
Congratulations:To Valetta Blennerhassett who celebrated her 90th Birthday recently with a family meal in the Ballygarry Hotel.
To Helen Martin on the birth of her granddaughter Aoife in Western Australia
We would like to express our sympathy to Lettie Young on the death of her brother Richard in Dublin
