Confirmation Classes.

Confirmation preparation will begin with the enrollment service in St Johns on the 18th February at 10.45 and classes will commence shortly afterwards.

Thanks, and Praise. This new Hymnal was produced some years ago.

The Select Vestry recently agreed to purchase a supply of these books and the accompanying CDs for each of our churches.

In addition, if anyone would like to purchase books in memory of loved ones or if you wish to purchase a book for yourself, please let the Rector know.

Wednesday group

Holy Communion every Wednesday at 11am in the West Room in St Johns, followed by Coffee and fellowship in the Ashe. All welcome.

Sympathy.

To Rhona, Rory, Daniel and Olga and the extended family on the death of Trevor Giles.

Trevor contributed so much to the life of the parish, wider church and community though his involvement with Rotary and Rugby and many other groups in the Town and county.

Trevor’s funeral was a large one and took place in St John’s Ashe Street on Wednesday 17th January, followed by a cremation service in Cork. His Ashes will be buried in the family plot in St John’s Brewery Road.

To Lorraine, Andrew, Stuart and Mark McAdam on the death of their aunt Betty Parkinson of Knockakilla Kilflynn. Betty lived on the family farm in Knockakilla with her late brother Arthur until his death in July 2020. Betty was laid to rest in the family tomb in the grounds of St Columba’s Church of Ireland in Kilflynn following her funeral service in St Johns Ashe Street on the 27th January.

To Heide and Daniel Giles and their family on the death of Heidi’s grandmother Elsa Schiller in east cork. Her funeral service was held in Cloyne.

Lent Begins on Ash Wednesday the 14th February with services in Tralee and Ballymacelligott.

St Johns Parochial School and Kiltallagh National School will take part in the service in Kiltallagh Church at 10am.

Frank McNamara Concert - Mozart by Candlelight

Following the success of his previous two concerts, Frank McNamara will return to St John's on March 2nd to bring us his favourite works of Mozart. This time Frank will be joined by special guest violinist Deirdre Reddy for what promises to be another wonderful evening of entertainment.

Tickets are available online through Eventbrite or at the door on the night. Concert starts at 9pm.

The Holy Strollers will meet on Saturday February 17th for a walk in the Maharees area, weather permitting.  The plan is to meet in Tralee at the Aquadrome at 10am, so that we can carpool and for those joining us from the Western end of the parish, at the Spar supermarket, Castlegregory at 10.30am. The walk should take approx. 3 hours.  The terrain is mainly on the flat but muddy in places so walking boots are recommended. Please bring a drink and a snack with you.

St Brigid’s Day

She is most famous for her St. Brigid cross which she wove together using rushes. The many strands that make up a St. Brigid’s cross represent the different strands of our own lives. They pick up on our joys and blessings but also on our struggles, problems and difficulties. For Brigid the cross was not an end in itself but pointed to a firm and sure hope in a loving God. For Brigid this loving God helps us to make sense of everything that’s going on in our lives.
