The Holy Communion is celebrated in St. John's every Wednesday morning at 11 am, followed by tea and fellowship in the Ashe Hotel.

BB:

Collette has a request, she's asking if anyone has old children's wellies they no longer need. If they are  willing to donate them she has an idea how to use them.

CMS last Sunday in St. John's we had a visit from Rev. Roger Thompson of Church Mission Society Ireland  when he described the amazing work carried out by CMSI overseas, and the opportunities and challenges which David Tough and  Robert Hoffman will experience shortly when they visit Kenya.  Their work will include building and repairing water tanks, training of Lay Readers,  This was a united service for Tralee and Kilgobbin, It was a joyful service and our love and prayers go with David and Robert as they travel to meet the people and to learn more about life in the Diocese of Kajiado. On return they will be available to speak to interested groups about their experiences in Kenya.

Volunteer Award:

Sam Kiwanuka, of St. John's recently received the Volunteer of the Year Award at the Kerry College of Further Education. Well done,Sam!

Sympathy:

Richard Williams from Ballymacelligott and more recently of Cuil Didin nursing home died in KUH on the 27th May. He spent his working life on the family farm with his brother Douglas. A keen horseman, he would be seen regularly hacking out in the locality.  He was noted for the attention that he gave to the animals in his care.We extend our sympathy to his brother Douglas and his sister Ann and to all his cousins.

To the family of the late Elizabeth Mansfield of Meadowlands and Ocean View, Camp who passed away on the 5th June in her 89th Year.  Betty was a gentle and kind lady who was well liked by the patients and Staff of the nursing home where she resided.  She was buried in the church grounds after her funeral service in Ballyseedy Church.

Sunday Club Service:

Tralee and Ballymac Sunday Clubs amalgamated on the 10th June to celebrate the end of the Sunday Club term. The theme of the service was ‘The Word’ and the junior choir under the leadership of Shirley and Amanda sang during the service. Mugs with a caption from the book of Jonah were presented to the children.  ‘In trouble, in deep trouble, I prayed to God and he answered me’ Jonah 2,2.  Bibles were presented to those who were confirmed.

End of Term Service:

A service to celebrate and to give thanks for the school year was held in St Johns on the 27th June.

The children and staff played a major part in the service and it was wonderful for us as they used their talents and gifts to worship and to give thanks for a good year in St Johns National School.

We said farewell to nine students who now will go on to the various secondary schools in the town.We wish Miszel, Kelsee, Amy, Alex, Allie, Kate, Rosie, Rohan, Roarke and their parents every blessing as they take this next step in their education.

Best wishes and happy holidays to all the children across the parish and our teachers who began their summer holidays this week.

St Johns Oakview,

The annual Mass was held on the 26th June to remember those who are buried in the cemetery and pray for their loved ones.

Concerts:

Two concerts were held recently in St Johns, A German group who had been invited to take part in Feile na mBlath and the Scotia Ensemble both put on wonderful performances. All funds went to the parish fund.

Notes from The West

Thank you to Scotia Ensemble for a wonderful concert of classical favourites at St. James Church, Dingle on 17th June, to support the Restoration of this iconic church.  We were transported by their musicality and obvious love of performing together.  Well done for their encouragement of young musicians, it was a joy to listen to them playing together.  We look forward to their next concert in support of the St. James Appeal.

Restoration Fund Update:  The St. James Restoration Fund has reached a little over €13,000.  We still have a long way to go but through the amazing generosity of all who donated to the fund, we are a step nearer our goal.  A heartfelt thank you to you all.

The congregation of Kilgobbin thoroughly enjoyed the service in Tralee on 24thJune, when we joined together to celebrate David Tough and Robert Hoffman's journey to Kenya.

Horizons:  Following a visit to our churches in May, Mary Fagan has informed us that the feature will be aired on Sunday 29th July.  I hope many of you will be able to listen to the programme.

Killiney Church:  The summer services begin this Sunday 1st July at 7.00pm. Refreshments will be served after the service.  All are most welcome.
