DATE FOR YOUR DIARY!!

On Sunday July 28th, there will be a family service in St John's at 10.45am.  This will be followed by a "Pot Luck Lunch" in the hall.  The idea is that we all bring something for lunch.  All the food is then laid out buffet style and we all  help ourselves. Sharing is caring!!!

School End of term and graduation service

This was held in the church on the 19th  June. The young people did most of the service and it was lovely to hear the school choir in song again.

Best wishes to those who are moving on to new schools in the autumn and to the staff as they take a well-deserved break over the summer months.

The service in the church was followed by a Bar-be-que in the school grounds, which was prepared by Collette and Mary and enjoyed by The Children, Staff and Parents.

Confirmation was held in St Johns on the 9th June, The Feast of St Columba.

It was great to be able to have a good number in the church as Adrian, Evie, Holly, Iona ,Leah, Patricia, Rachel and Winner confirmed their baptismal promises.

Daniel, Devon, Gia and Liya who were prepared with the Tralee candidates were confirmed later that afternoon in St Brendans Church in Tarbert.

Thanks again to the Church wardens, The Choir and to Bishop Michael for making it such a memorable and joyful occasion for the candidates and their families.

The challenge to all of us is in how we follow through on the baptismal promises.

Sympathy

We  extend our sympathy to Charlie Smith on the death of his wife Janis.

Jan died after a short illness and will be greatly missed by all of us in St Johns. She sang in the choir and loved being part of the parish community and really enjoyed the fellowship that she experienced in the Wednesday group.

Jan was originally from the US but moved to Kerry when she married Charlie ten years ago.

Jan’s funeral will take place on Saturday the 6th July in St Johns .

We also extend our sympathy to Keith and the Rev Phyllis Jones on the death of Keith's brother Rob. His  funeral service took place on the 5th June in the UK.

Burial of Ashes

On the 23rd of July the Ashes of  Peter Prentice will return form the UK  to be buried in the family plot in Ballyseedy. Peter is the late husband of Heather whose mother was a Peevers from Poulawaddra Tralee.

Heather has many  first cousins in the parish. Both of Heather's parents are buried in Ballyseedy.

Graveyard Services.

These services continue, a large crowd gathered in Kilflynn Church grounds on the evening of the 12th June. It was followed by tea and conversation in the Church afterwards.

The Service in St Johns Brewery Road will be held on the 17th July @7.30pm and the service in Dingle will be held on the feast on the feast of St James, the 25th July @ 7.30pm  At these services we will remember all those who are buried in the grounds.

A talk on the history of St James church and site will be given by a local historian.

Bishop Michael Joined the Wednesday group for the mid week service on the feast of St Thomas which coincided with the 18th Anniversary of his consecration as Bishop.

The Bishop will visit Camp and Dingle on the 21st July and will licence Helen Keefe as a Reader.

Eoin Duignan Concerts in St James Dingle

These concerts run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights in St James Church Dingle and they begin at 7pm

Parishioners in Hospital

If you or someone known to you is in any of the hospitals in Tralee, please let me know.

At present and because of GDPR the hospitals are not allowed to give patients names.

I will only be too happy to visit, as part of my job is to provide pastoral care to Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals. UHK and the BONS.
