Wednesday group

The Holy Communion is celebrated every Wednesday at 11am in St Johns Ashe Street. This is followed by Coffee and fellowship in the Ashe.

Confirmation

Bishop Michael will visit the parish on the 9th to officiate at the service of confirmation in St Johns at 10.45am. He will then proceed to Tarbert in the afternoon to confirm candidates there that were prepared with the Tralee and Dingle candidates.

Ecumenical Service St Columba Kilflynn.

This annual service will be held in the grounds of Kilflynn Church on the 12th June at 7.30pm to remember with thanksgiving those who have been buried there through the ages.

Its also an important community occasion and its followed by tea and refreshments in the church. The Church is leased to the Kilflynn Area development group and they keep the church and grounds in such good repair and for this we are very thankful.

Sympathy.

We extend our sympathy to Heather and Jerry Sugrue and their family on the death of Jerry's mum Eileen and to Valletta Blennerhassett on the death of her sister in law Cherry Long in Adare.

TOURISM PROJECT

During the past month we have had two groups visiting St John's, a group from MENSA and more recently some members of the Georgian Society.  David Tough kindly gave of his time to be present on both occasions to welcome the visitors and act as their guide.  For the months of June, July and August, St John's will be open to visitors on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm to 3pm.  This has been made possible by the generosity of those who have volunteered and will, in their turn, be present in the church during these hours.  It is very encouraging to have so many people involved in the project this year, particularly so many from the Wednesday group who have really come up trumps!  While we have a great team on board, there is always space for more volunteers. If you would like to get involved or to know more please let Olive or Rev. Jim know.  We look forward to gradually building on the hard work already done on this worthwhile project.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

On Sunday July 28th, there will be a family service in St John's at 10.45am.  This will be followed by a "Pot Luck Lunch" in the hall.  The idea is that we all bring something for lunch.  All the food is then laid out buffet style and we all  help ourselves. Sharing is caring!!!

Exam Students,

We wish all those doing state examinations in the next few weeks every good wish.

A prayer.

Lord, keep me calm so that I can write down all I know. Keep my friends calm too. Let me sleep each night so that I am refreshed and renewed for the next exam. Even if I struggle, I must always remember that there is a bigger picture of which these exams are only a small part . Most important of all, keep me focused, guide me along, get me through the scary moments and make sure I attempt every question. Thank you for being my friend today and always. Amen

St James Dingle.

Eoin Duignan will continue his series of concerts in St James on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights for the next few months..

St Johns School End of Term.

A service to mark the end of the school year and to say farewell to the students who are leaving will take place on the 19th June at 11am.

It provides an opportunity to give thanks for the work of the students and the Staff and to pray for the young people as they prepare to move on to new schools in the autumn.

Parishioners in Hospital

Due to privacy rules and GDPR it’s not possible to ask in hospitals anymore for a list of C of I patients. I am happy to visit any parishioner in any of the hospitals and care homes in the wider parish area. The provision of pastoral care to Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals such as UHK and the BONS is part of my role. I work closely with the full-time chaplains, but please let me know if you or a loved one would like a visit or indeed if anyone known to you would like a visit.
