Wednesday group
The Holy Communion is celebrated every Wednesday at 11am in St Johns Ashe Street. This is followed by Coffee and fellowship in the Ashe.
St Johns Tourism Outreach Project
will be open for the following hours during the summer months - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12noon to 4pm.
We are thankful to Kathleen and to our dedicated volunteers who support her in maintaining a presence in the church during these hours. There is always room for more volunteers. If this is something in which you might enjoy being involved please contact Olive (secretarytraleeballymac@gmail.com). You don’t need to be an expert on history or architecture. The most important part is providing a warm welcome for those who visit. Already this year we have welcomed visitors from many different countries as well as some locals, many of whom had never previously seen the inside of St John’s. We would encourage parishioners who might be in town to drop in a say hello.
St James Dingle.
We will have services in St James on the 1st Sunday of the month until the autumn, reverting to the normal schedule for the winter.
Eoin Duignan will continue his series of concerts in St James on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights for the next few months.
A bilingual service took place on May 3rd as part of the annual Feile na Bealtaine festival.
Confirmation
Many thanks to all who prepared the church and contributed to the wonderful service that we had in St Johns on the 10th of May.
Congratulations to our young people who were confirmed and to their families.
Sympathy.
To Joy, Sarah and Rebecca on the death of Rev Joe Condell. Joe lived in retirement in Castlegregory. Joe’s funeral service was held in Kilgobbin and following cremation his ashes were buried in Camp burial ground.
To Marion Hogan and family on the death of Marion’s brother, Sandy Birdthistle in Limerick. Sandy, also known as “Mr Funderland”, was part of the Bird’s Amusements family, well known and much loved visitors to Tralee for very many years. Sandy’s funeral service was held in St Mary’s cathedral on May 6th, followed by private cremation.
To the family of Neilus Groves who passed away peacefully at his home in Ballymacelligott on May 26th. To his wife, Kay, brothers Robert and John, his sisters Chrissie and Patsy and to all the Groves family. Neilus will be fondly remembered as a faithful member of Ballymac parish.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of these families at this sad time.
Exam Students,
We wish all those doing state examinations in the next few weeks every good wish.
A prayer.
Loving God be with me as I prepare for my exams.
Calm any anxiety that I may feel. Help me to remember what I have studied, to express it clearly and to answer the questions as best I can.
Grant me the assurance that you are with me at this time. Amen
St Johns School End of Term.
A service to mark the end of the school year will take place on Wednesday the 17th June at 11am. It provides an opportunity to give thanks for the work of the students and the Staff and to pray for the young people as they prepare to move on to new schools in the autumn.
