Mid-week Services –

Holy Communion each Wednesday at 11.00am in St. John's Church, followed by coffee and fellowship in the Ashe Hotel.

The Lenten Study in Ballymacelligot on the five marks of mission continues on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm. All welcome.

 

Holy week services:

Services will be held on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy week in Ballyseedy beginning at 7pm.

 

Healer Prayer Group:

The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 8.00pm in Teach an tSolais.The next meeting will be on the 6th February.

 

Mothering Sunday.

A united service will be held on the 11th March in St John’s to celebrate Mothers Day, The young people from Sunday Club, Confirmation Class and the School will be involved.

Youth Club:

The next meeting of the youth club will take place on the 10th March, The session will be led by Oscar and Ciara Fitzell.

Sympathy:

Dawn Mason Caherleaheen, Tralee passed away on the morning of the 4th February in KUH, She was in her eighty ninth year. Her removal and funeral services were held in St John’s Ashe street.

Her death was shock to her family who were still grieving for their Dad, Tommy who passed away last July. We offer our sympathy to her daughters Yvonne, Vivienne & Lorna, brothers Jackie, Rollie, Reggie, Derek & Errol, sons-in-law Tom, John & Kevin, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.Her Ashes were interred with her late husband Tommy in Ballyseedy Graveyard on the 17th February.

 

Helen Giles formerly of Tralee, died in the UK died on the 5th February. Her funeral will take place there on the 13thof March  and her ashes will be buried at a later date in the family grave in St John’s Oakview in Tralee.She loved to visit Kerry, coming home at least twice a year. Her last visit was in August 2013 for the burial of her sister Evelyn ashes. She trained as a teacher under the Froeble method and spent many happy years in that profession.

We offer our sympathy to her brother Trevor and to his wife Rhona and their families as they prepare to travel for her funeral.

Mildred Gleasure:

Mildred Gleasure (nee Boyle) was originally from Castlemaine but lived for the greater part of her life in Ballybunion, where she ran a successful business with her husband and family for many years. Eagle Lodge B&B and its associated food outlet were well know to the those who flocked to Ballybunion for their holidays.

She passed away in KUH on Friday 16th of February. Her funeral service took place in Tarbert Church of Ireland, she was buried with her husband in the ajoining cemetery.

We offer our sympathy to her daughters, Margaret and Eva and to her sons Giles and William and their families, to her grandchildren, brothers and the extended family

Women’s World Day of Prayer(Camp and Tralee)

Due to the bad weather these services have been rescheduled for the 9th of March at 7.30pm.The service in Camp will be hosted by the Church of Ireland and the service in Tralee will be hosted by the Bon Secours Order at their Chapel in the hospital.

 

Ash Wednesday

The morning service in Tralee involved the children from Tralee and Castlemaine National Schools.

Children from both schools participated in the service. The service  was followed by a beetle drive and Pizza in Teach an tSolais,which was very kindly organised by David and Jackie Tough. The children had some playtime afterwards in the school yard. This hopefully will be the first of many such activities and joint ventures.

 

News from the West –

 1. The Lent Course this year is the BACI Course, The Five Marks of Mission, which will be held on Wednesdays in the Rectory at 2.30pm.  All welcome.

 

3. On Sunday 25th March, the film The Way will be shown in St. James Church, Dingle, at 1.00pm, as part of the International Film Festival. All proceeds towards St. James Restoration Project.

 

 4. On 1st April in St. Brendan's Church,Killiney at 7.00pm to celebrate the Stations of the Resurrection.

All are most welcome to join our Lenten and Easter activities.

 

Sympathy:  We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Crean and Fitzgerald families on the peaceful passing of Denis Crean.  He will be very sadly missed by his family and many friends.
