Féile
Feile Na Bealtaine, this festival is held in Dingle over the May bank holiday weekend and there will be a service in St James on the Saturday evening (30th April) at 6pm.
Elements of the service will be in Irish. So if you happen to be in Dingle on Saturday please join us for the service
Holy Week and Easter Service,
Services were held every day during Holy week with the exception of Holy Saturday, every Church had a service and I am thankful to the Lay Readers who led the services on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week. Attendances tend to be low in the early days of the week and then increased a little as the week advanced. Some of those preparing for confirmation and their parents attended the Maundy Thursday service in Tralee bringing the numbers up a little there.
Thank you also to Canon Warren who celebrated the Holy Communion in Camp and Dingle, it was encouraging to hear that there was a good attendance in both churches.
Easter day in Tralee and Ballymacelligott also saw good attendances.
Thankyou also to those who prepared the Churches and contributed to the worship.
St Johns Parochial School,
Congratulations to Mike O’Toole and the staff in the school on getting sanction for an additional class room teacher. This will be a great help to the children and the staff.
Easter Vestries.
These have taken place in Camp and in Tralee and I want to acknowledge the commitment of all those who give of their time and serve their parishes in such a generous way.
As Rector Easter Vestry is ‘a time for me to say thankyou’ to all those who keep the wheels of parish life turning.
• Church wardens & Glebe Wardens and Select Vestry Members.
• Those who look after our churches and grounds and keep them nice and fresh,
• Those who weed the flower beds
• Flower arrangers
• Those who operate the CD’s,
• Lay readers and the retired clergy.
The Teach an tSolais Committee
• Singers/musicians and Noreen our organist in Tralee.
• Those who look after the website and the Facebook page.
• Sunday club and the BB, Collette is stepping down this year and it’s going to be a challenge to replace her.
I want to thank our core group of parishioners in our five churches for their faithfulness and for the witness that you give.
Easter Vestry is a time when I encourage vestry members and regular church attenders to encourage those who may have for whatever reason drifted from the life of the Church and to remind them that they are part of us and are always welcome.
Richard Southwell,
Richard was remembered at the Palm Sunday service in Kilgobbin. We had a full Church and it was lovely to see parishioners, neighbours and friends gather to honour Richard and to show sympathy to Belinda and the family. His granddaughter Honor read the first lesson and The Rev Phyllis read a portion of the Eulogy that was read at his funeral in the UK. We learned a little more about the broad interests and abilities that Richard had and the Charities that both he and Belinda supported. It was obvious from the Eulogy that His Christian faith underpinned everything that he did.
Tea was served by Belinda, Honor and Juliette in the Old Rectory after the service and Richard was remembered as a good neighbour.
Boys Brigade,
In our last newsletter it was mentioned that The BB were organising a Sponsored Walk for UNICEF Ukraine.
This took place on what was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, as they say every day is a school day as it was my first time walking from Tralee to The Spa along the coastal walk.
Over €700 was raised by the BB, the youngest walker was aged 6. Well done to the Boys and Girls and to Collette who organised it and to the leaders and parents who supported her.
Happy 90th Birthday to Trevor Mills-Smith, this milestone was acknowledged at the morning service in Tralee. Trevor travels from Tournafulla every Sunday morning to Tralee. Trevor’s faithfulness is a great encouragement to all of us. Trevor must be our furthest parishioner by a long way as he lives almost 45minutes away from Tralee in Cork over the border from Limerick and Kerry. His son in law Adrian and his wife drives him down every Sunday.

People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is shining but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light glowing from within.'
Easter is about celebrating hope and letting the light that is within us to glimmer and shine.
Collect for the Third Sunday in Easter
Almighty Father,
who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples
with the sight of the risen Lord:
Give us such knowledge of his presence with us,
that we may be strengthened
and sustained by his risen life
and serve you continually in righteousness and truth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
