Sympathy

To John, Gill, Nicola and Janet Slye and the extended Slye family on the death of John’s brother Arthur in Dublin.

Arthur was well known and the attendance at his funeral service in Malahide Church reflected this.

To Trevor and Maureen Poff of Ballymac and Boston on the death of Maureen’s mother, Mary Collins in the US.

All Saints tide service of remembrance.

This will be held in Tralee on the 3rd November. In preparation for this service cards will be available near the memory tree in St Johns to allow those who wish for a loved one to be remembered. Candles in memory of loved one will be lit during the service.

All are welcome.

Christmas fair

It’s that time of year again when we’re in full planning mode for our Christmas Fair which will takes place on Saturday December 14th. This is always a wonderful community building and fundraising event for the Tralee, Ballymacelligott and Ballyseedy Church communities.

It brings people together as well as raising much needed funds for our Churches and its also one of the ways in which we reach out into the community and make our presence known.

It will feature all the usual stalls, Baking, Jams, Christmas decorations, Silent Auction, Firewood, Guess the weight of the cake, Door Prizes, Raffles etc and The Ballyseedy Bistro with its mouth watering apple pie’s teas, Burgers etc.

1. We’re appealing for Bakers as this is probably our best seller. Spread the word to neighbours and friends to bake!!

2. The raffle and tickets will be available soon

3. Help on the day or in fact with anything.

Please Note :We cant take Bric a brac, jumble or electrical items anymore.

Please contact Susie Keating at 087 9362732 if you wish to get involved.

Confirmation 2025.

We have been given a date by the bishop as follows, Confirmation will be held in Tralee and Dingle on the 4th May in St Johns.

Confirmation is open to all those in 6th Class and older. Confirmation provides an opportunity for our young people and their parents and indeed for the whole parish family to think again about the Christian faith and what it means, its relevance to us, and to society in general, and to take the next step and confirm for themselves the promises that their parents and God Parents made on their behalf at their Baptism.

It is an opportunity for me to get to know the young people a little better and to share a little of the Christian faith.

At the heart of confirmation is promising to keep those promises. When we make promises and give our word, we should not do so lightly but thoughtfully and prayerfully and with the intention of doing our best.

Please contact me for a chat and/or for an application form if you or a family member is interested.

Presentation of Confirmation Certificates and Apple Trees.

This has now been rescheduled for Tralee on the 17th November during the morning service at 10.45. I extend an invitation to all those who were confirmed and their parents to this service.

Harvests

Once again many thanks to all those who contributed in so many ways to the lovely harvest celebrations we had in in our parish recently.

A special word of thanks to those who so generously decorated our churches for the celebrations.

It was also good to welcome one of the classes from CBS to St Johns on the Wednesday following the harvest in Tralee for the Harvest celebration with the school.

Thank you also to those who supported the collection for CMSI.

Further sums were raised in Kilcoleman Union at the harvest in St Michaels on the 20th October amidst the storm and rain.

Many thanks to one and all.

Jesse Tree Service

A service based on the theme of the Jesse Tree will be held in St Johns on the 24th November.

Other Voices

The Other Voices concert series will take place in St James church Dingle from the 25th  November to the 2nd December.

This has been a wonderful experience for the parish as it brings lots of people to Dingle on that weekend and is a great boost to the local economy in so many ways.

The parish is proud and delighted to be a part of this experience.

Hospital Visiting

As Rector I serve as the Church of Ireland chaplain to the Tralee Hospitals and I am  happy to call to any parishioners from my own parish and any other parish who may be in one of the Tralee hospitals or in one of the many nursing homes in the area. Please let me know if you would like a friend or loved one visited. Because of privacy regulations and GDPR we cant be informed of Church of Ireland patients in the hospitals.
