Harvests
The first of our Harvest Thanksgiving services took place in Kilgobbin on Sunday the 29th September.
The church was wonderfully and generously prepared and decorated for the celebration.
It was also an opportunity to celebrate 200 years of the Kilgobbin and to give thanks for the families who have worshipped and supported the church through all the changing scenes of Life.
This was an ecumenical occasion and the Castlegregory parish choir joined us, and what a wonderful joyful sound they bring to our celebration. This was followed by tea in the Old School rooms in Camp during which a birthday cake was cut.
Many thanks to the Church wardens and to the parishioners who prepared the church and organized the tea.
Our second harvest is scheduled for the Tralee, Ballymac and Ballyseedy end of parish for the 6th October in St Johns at 10.45am.
The preacher in Tralee will be FR Gregory O’Carroll OP. The collection will also go to support CMS Projects.
Many thanks to all who are work so generously and creatively to prepare and decorate the Churches.
On the Wednesday the 9th following the harvest the school will join us once again for the school harvest celebration. They will be joined by the first communion class from CBS.
Sympathy
We extend our sympathy to the family of the late Hugh Campbell whose funeral took place in St Johns on the 23rd September. He was buried in Ballyseedy beside his daughter Sarah who died in an accident in Australia 35years ago.
Hugh was a leading architect in Kerry and designed our parish center and the extension to St Johns Church many years ago.
He is survived by his wife Jean, daughter Kate and sons Tom and James and their families.
We also express our sympathy to Amanda, James, Allie, Emma and Jamie Tarrant on the recent death of James sister Kay in Tralee.
Her funeral was held in Our Lady and Str Brendan's church in Tralee.
