Mothering Sunday

St. John's Church Ashe Street Tralee

The 4th Sunday in Lent is Mothering Sunday, better known in popular culture as Mothers day and it is important to thank, value and appreciate our mothers and indeed all who mother us.
It could be a Dad Aunt, Grandmother or Grandfather or siblings. I think the church got it right with the very inclusive  Mothering Sunday.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for our Mum’s and for all who have been good mother figures in our lives and for all who have loved us and nurtured us to be the best that we can be. Remembering those for whom today is difficult

Amen.

This is our service and thank you to those who made it possible.

I am not sure who John Lennon was referring to when he wrote the song 'Let it be'  but the sentiments express where and who we go to when we are in trouble.

When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me

Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me

Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Have a good day

Jim
