Today is the 19th Sunday after Trinity and it also coincides with the feast of St Luke ( Red Stoles are worn by the clergy on Saint Days)

St Luke is the patron Saint of Physicians and what an appropriate focus for our liturgy today as we are so mindful and prayerful of those whose work is in healing and healthcare and medical research.

                                                                                    

Go raibh an Tiarna Libh                       

Agus leat fein                                      

Almighty God,  you called Luke the physician, 

whose praise is in the gospel, 

to be an evangelist and physician of the soul: 

By the grace of the Spirit 

and through the wholesome medicine of the gospel, 

give your Church the same love and power to heal; 

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayer for Spiritual Communion.

Thanks be to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 

For all the benefits that you have given to me. 

Since I am not able for the moment to receive you sacramentally,

I ask that you come spiritually into my heart.

O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother, 

may I know you more clearly, 

love you more dearly and follow you more nearly day by day. Amen
